October 8, 2020
October 10th has been proclaimed “Come Out With Pride Day” by the Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, and Commissioner Patty Sheehan!
2020 can be seen as outright surreal. When you juggle between life-altering events and the pandemic, surviving just becomes a common theme that, to most, has led to many changes and lifestyle evolutions that can fit into what is now deemed as the “new normal.” The LGBTQ+ community and Orlando’s beloved annual celebration has been no exception. Thankfully, Orlando is very much a progressive city–the very first city in Central Florida, as a matter of fact, that offered a Domestic Partner Registry to same-sex couples!
With that being said, although Orlando’s Come Out With Pride celebration has been a growing event celebrating the contributions of the community, the effects of COVID-19 has caused the event to evolve as well. Regardless of the changes, many people still remain positive and will celebrate with a different mindset: to focus on the cause and the purpose—not just the glamour of the party. The organizers have worked very hard this year to provide an in-depth, educational, entertaining, yet safe, event for everyone to enjoy.

This year’s parade has turned into a nearly 20-mile vehicle procession. Please note that although the route is located outside, social distancing and face masks are strongly encouraged.
